In the world of digital, I love the can-do attitude that our team have. We are a really collaborative team and so there's great support for testing and learning new ideas. Passionate about something? Bring it to the table and let's chat!
A great example are the new Guilds that we have started in digital design. We wanted to provide a forum to allow interested parties to get together and talk about topics that interest them... a little bit of education, a little bit of outside inspiration, a little bit of discussion on how to apply new thinking to our team. We have a guild for design research and the next forum will be a quick talk on biometrics (inspiration) followed by a workshop on bias and how we can minimise it (education/applying to the day to day).
Another example is the strong academic connection we have with Imperial College/Royal College of Arts in London. One of the team was passionate about this, and the innovative thinking it could bring to our teams as well as the talent pipeline it could create. We started with a little bit of teaching support for undergrad and masters courses and that developed into an 8 week internship for 2 masters students last summer! HR were brilliant at helping work through the practicalities and so many people gave time to support our interns in their project. And, in the spirit of test and learn, we did a great retro and have more ideas for how to evolve.
So for me, that's one of the great values I see in my colleagues and in the digital side of the business. Try it, see how it goes, learn!
