For me, it would be preparation.
In the past, I've definitely attended interviews where I've deliberately constructed my answer to be something that I think the interviewer wants to hear rather than what I believe to be true. I think it's especially easy to fall into that trap if you really want or need the job, which is really difficult to navigate. I'd say 90% of the time though, it hasn't worked out well for me in the end. Whether I've got the job but found it's actually not the right fit or it hasn't actually been what the interviewer wanted to hear at all and they've seen through it.
I think before attending an interview, it's really important that you know you're own personal values and what's really important to you; your skillset, unique positive approach to tasks and the values, ambition and direction of travel of the place you're applying to.
Chances are, you'll have a good understanding of what the job role entails and what they're looking for in you as that will have been detailed in the job description, but I think knowing all the above information and already feeling like a good fit - when tougher questions come up in an interview - you'll be able to navigate them authentically and with answers that will resonate with the interviewer.
If you already come across like you'd make an excellent fit with the team, company and culture, they'll be able to see past any experiences you haven't yet had and be excited to offer you the opportunity to learn -especially if they can tell you've done your homework!
